Availability of School Sports Centre to the local community

Since our School Sports Centre opened in 2006, it has been used mainly by the school students with very little opportunity for parents, guardians and members of the local community to benefit from its excellent facilities.

The sports block consists of the following facilities:

·         A 720 m2 main hall which can accommodate 5 badminton courts, basketball,  5 – side football, indoor cricket and a variety of other sports.

·         A 172 m2 Dance Studio with mirrored wall, DVD and sound system – ideal for Aerobics, dance classes, fitness classes etc.

·         A 150 m2 gymnasium with a wide range of fitness equipment.

We are now keen to open up the sports centre to local residents, communities and sports groups for evenings and weekends but need to do so in a carefully managed way which will not adversely impact on the provision for our students. Before we do this, we need to gauge what the demand is likely to be in order to ensure that we are able to maximise the benefit to the local community.

Headteacher visits Downing Street

Lorraine Heath was invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street on the evening of Monday 11th January to recognise and celebrate Uffculme's considerable achievements.  It was a huge honour to be invited and to meet Gordon and Sarah Brown.  There were about 150 headteachers from all over the country all of whom were being recognised for the succeses in the schools they head.
